Over the years AMR has provided Sentimental Journeys to hundreds of patients. We were able to take a gentleman to his son’s high school basketball playoffs. The team kept winning, so we continued to transport the patient so he could see all the games. His son’s team won the 4A title for the first time in over 40 years. Other highlights include: a trip up Pikes Peak for an original member of the AdAmAn Club, a day spent at a favorite fishing hole, and a family trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. For the most part the Journeys are simple: trips home to spend time with family, road trips to see the aspens turning or a meal at a much loved restaurant.

At its inception this was a unique program to El Paso County, it was the inspiration of a field paramedic. AMR has since sent information to many agencies across the Nation that wish to organize their own program.

In 2005 Sentimental Journey received the Community of Heroes, Community Service award from the Southern Colorado  Better Business Bureau and the Red Cross
